About Me

My name is Alastair Silas Blackwood, a 4th year Costume design major at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. It all started from a love of sewing and costumes from a very young age, eventually evolving into a love of design work.

*Hello!*

I have a passion for detail and believe the smallest details can create the biggest impact not only for the audience but for the story itself. As a designer I specialize in digital art and costume craft work. Whether it is painting, dyeing or distressing I am excited to learn new techniques!

My love in design is fantasy and eccentric twists, glitz and glamor. I thrive in a project that allows me to create and add on to world building through the costumes. This is especially evident through my work on film when the details and meanings behind every choice can shine.

In addition I have a passion for Drag and a sense of theatricality in costume changes or reveals. Creating the magic of a quick change on stage thrills me. Overall my goal as an artist is always to improve and hone my art through the people around me as a collaborators in creating something beautiful.
